Black Sabbath - Forbidden (1995)

My Ratings: 67.220
Rank: 1549 (out of 1689)

Best Song: The Illusion of Power [76.0]

Heavy Metal

This is known as Sabbath's worse album by far and that could be contributed to the rush to get it done and out of the contract. Well, I finally had to take my medicine and give it a spin and I will agree.... this one is pretty bad as I only liked 2 of the 10 tracks....

Rank: 391 (out of 1695)

Best Song: Escape The Grave [82.6]

Black/Speed Metal

Is Blackened Speed a thing? I dunno, anyhow this is basically a mix of Black and Speed. One man band from Cleveland puts out another good one. This one could hold up as being my top new release for the month of January.....

Konvent - Puritan Masochism (2020)

My Ratings: 79.401
Rank: 245 (out of 1696)

Best Song: Puritan Masochism [87.6]

Death Doom Metal

OK, well, there goes what I said about the previous album this will likely be the best album of January..... add to that I wouldn't mine banging everyone in this band.... I will definitely be picking this album up. I really enjoyed the simplicity of the guitar, I mean I could literally pick up a guitar and play every song within minutes but in this case with this genre it is a good thing.

Acid Mammoth - Under Acid Hoof (2020)

My Ratings: 84.010
Rank: 88 (out of 1698)

Best Song: Tusks of Doom [85.0]

Doom Metal

The album cover art got my attention so gave it a chance and oh boy am I glad I did. This one debut's in my top 100 albums and every track on it is great. Good ole Fuzz with great vocals.....

"It just gets heavier and heavier as you dwell deeper into the album. The father & son duo on guitars offer to the listener a horde of Iommi-style riffs with fuzzy melodies accompanied by doomy riffing, which is supported by wicked bass lines and heavy drumming. The clean mellow vocals add to the mix, and the occasional talk of witchcraft and mammoths can lead to a sublime, heavy experience. "

Mount Hush - Mount Hush (2020)

My Ratings: 77.013
Rank: 405 (out of 1713)

Best Song: Black Moon [79.0]

Psychedelic Blues / Stoner Rock

"The 5-headed band combines the raw power of the mountains with their mystic beauty and leads the heavy psychedelic blues into a new home. Fuzz guitars, deep bass and a whirly hammond mix with emotionally driven vocals; psychedelic jams melt with unique song structures and tell stories beyond imagination. An acid blues auditorium in which clouds of sound condensate and discharge in epic thunderstorms of fuzz. " SMOD

Frayle - 1692 (2020)

My Ratings: 36.779
Rank: 429 (out of 1718)

Best Song: God of No Faith [79.0]

Atmospheric Doom Metal

Local band from Cleveland...

"As Frayle's music inhales and exhales, building into atmospheric, chilly epics, Gwyn's lyrics explore her own personality and experiences, referencing and representing her frustrations growing up in a strict Roman Catholic family, as well as alchemical ideals such as changing negatives to positives, or ascending from one level of understanding to another. While there is much darkness on the record, it’s also contrasted superbly with beauty, both fragile and fierce, in a way that feels weightless rather than plummeting, as if release truly is a possibility.
