Not surprising. Defiance was a one class program and they are now gone. Numbers and talent are down in all grades (except 8th). New coach will have a challenge.
Boy, seems like many are real getting fussy. Many great facilities in NW Ohio. All the ones with turf are fantastic. The PH folks from 2005 would have been in heaven to play on field turf rather than the mud bowl at Lima Bath. Defiance and Napoleon have super facilities with great fields...
Make or break week.....
St. Marys - Dangerous pick. Bath playing well
Van Wert - More on the line
Wapak - Can't see Celina pulling off upset.
Defiance - Here's my risky pick. Teams heading in opposite directions. Defiance has a lot of seniors who will hopefully be at their...
St Mary’s. - Better team
Kenton - going with upset.
OG - Playing well
Wapak - consistent
Celina - Defiance’s performance against Bath was baffling. Is it a trend?
St Mary’s - Going with home team
Van Wert - More consistent
Defiance - Dogs usually play Bad against Bath. Game scares me.
Wapak - Not much to say.
OG - Going with the upset.
Celina - Bath getting shutout by OG was surprising
OG - Titans getting better as season progresses
St. Marys - Should control this game
Wapak - Their D should be able to contain Kenton
Defiance - Stronger than Elida
Celina - Just playing better
OG - Trying to pick up a game on leader
Defiance - Doesn't look like a good weather night for passing
St. Marys - Could be a close game
Wapak - Too strong for Shawnee
St. Marys - Won't lose 3 in a row.
Wapak - Appears to be on way to league title
Defiance - Should be the favorite in remainder of their games.
Celina - Their D should be able to hold Kenton in check.
Bath - Looks more consistent than Elida
Wapak - Good run defense will prevail
Celina - Should be favored at home
Defiance - Taking a while, but Defiance is recovering from bad loss at Napoleon
Bath - Hard to figure out Kenton
OG - Elida may be trending down
Wapak - Mismatch
Defiance - Somehow Defiance always plays well against St. Marys
Celina - Should be a close game
Shawnee - Surprise of league so far
Elida - What Kenton team will show up.
Wapak - Defiance defense not as good as last year.
Kenton - OG has to prove it on the field
Elida - Could be a toss up.
Van Wert - Don't feel real comfortable with this pick.
St. Marys - Going with the home team.
Clock mismanagement by Defiance right before the half cost them the game. Defiance had 2 and goal on the 2 yd. line with 3 timeouts left with around a minute to go. Right after the first down run to the 2 Defiance called a timeout. They should have left the clock run down to around 35 seconds...
Forgot about the Shawnee game last night. Would have picked it wrong anyhow.
Bath - Who knows?
Celina - Probably not as good as last year.
Napoleon - Hard to pick Defiance with Zipfel probably out. Hope I'm wrong.
Elida _ Toledo City teams are usually not good.
Eastwood - Always...
Also: Paul Miles 1970 grad of Paulding HS. Great running back in HS and at BGSU. Was BGSU's all time leading rusher for many years. Played in the USFL for a few years. May have been a better baseball player than football.
Never heard Bair called Charles before. Was always Doug to me.
Great to watch. I have seen video of the 1950 Miller City - Eaton Championship game. Very comparable in style of play with wild shots and quick whistles. Noticed the white (non glass back) boards. In 1950 they had glass back boards but put white paper behind them because neither team...
Home grown are kids who actually live in the school district boundaries and have for many years, and who did not open enroll for the primary purpose of playing sports. Someone who open enrolls and never moves into the school district is never considered home grown. I suppose this is a public...
The largest gyms (approx. seating capacity) in the WBL are Elida - 3,200, Defiance - 2,500, Wapak (2,500), VW -2,400, OG - 2,200 (not 2,500), St. Marys - 2,300 (maybe a little more). Celina's gym is a settlemental place but way outdated.
