    Centerville vs Moeller

I might be mistaken, but I don't think their starters have given up a goal all year. Their reserves gave up a PK in the 1st game of the year to Walnut Hills with just a few minutes left. Shutouts in every game since ...

Mercy rule in playoffs this year - good idea or bad idea?

Well, in a perfectly drawn up bracket, we would have 16 teams, 32 teams, 64 teams or 128 teams and everyone would be slotted and play a 1st round game. In that scenario, #1 is playing #16, #32, #64 or #128 right out of the gates. So yeah, in that instance, they likely will be spending more...

Mercy rule in playoffs this year - good idea or bad idea?

So let's play this out ... Let's say there's 24 teams in the Southwest District. That means there would be 8 byes. The Southwest District would then seed teams #1 through #24. Why should the #6, 7 and 8 seeds be pigeon holed into a bye that creates an unfavorable future matchup? Then, you...

State Poll for Week of 9/25/23

Well, if you are referring to Moeller, they only played their home games at MSJ, NKU and their home field according to Max Preps. Their home field doesn't have lights, so that's likely not an option on a Tuesday night. If MSJ has a conflict, then they would have to play at NKU. And, vice...

State Poll for Week of 9/25/23

I think most coaches and anyone who have seen Moeller play would agree that they are having a pretty incredible season. Their defense and midfield have been dominant. You were very quick to throw stones about their schedule without really doing your research. With only 4 teams in the GCL...

Tournament Field size for district semi’s and beyond

If you use Google Earth, you can measure and compare all fields. La Salle is the worst field by far. It’s a cracker box … 105 yards long by 57 yards wide.

Tournament Field size for district semi’s and beyond

Miamisburg is wider than Princeton by a good 5-6 yards. St X is good sized. You would think coaches of higher seeded teams would take this into consideration when picking which district to enter. Might make sense for a more skilled team to move into the Dayton district to play in Miamisburg.

State Poll for Week of 9/25/23

I agree. The problem is after Moeller, it’s a complete mess in the local polls. It’s a spider web of beating one team that loses to another who beat someone else and on and on. Each district can only nominate 3 teams for State voting. The districts use the local coaches poll. Feels like they...

    Cincinnati kids playing college soccer?

Adding to the list of local D1 commits above: Tommy DeRoussel (Summit/OE) - George Mason Alex Fee (Troy Christian/CUP) - Dayton This is a great group of players with more to be announced I'm sure.

State Poll for week of 9/18

Personally, I’d give the edge to Moeller. Defense travels. The more games I see, the more impressed I am with their play. Their Defense and Midfield is super solid. Centerville does have talent and soccer certainly is a crazy sport where the best team on the field doesn’t always get the...

State Poll for week of 9/18

Interesting. It appears some folks may have let Saturday’s results impact their voting. If I’m not mistaken each poll is supposed to be based on the previous Saturday to Friday results. The nominations come out Saturday or Sunday by district after the local coaches polls and then the vote...

    Cincinnati kids playing college soccer?

Several local 2024 grads are committed to Division 1 schools for soccer: Drew Gaydosh (Centerville / CUP) - Indiana Bradley Poppell (Moeller / CUP) - Air Force Nolan Brice (Louisville / FCC) - Xavier Mason Cooper (Moeller / CUP) - Xavier Nick McHenry (Loveland / FCC) - Ohio State Cole Evans...

    Moeller 1 St Xavier 0

Unfortunately that was St. Xavier’s only highlight of the night. Moeller lived in St X’s half of the field. X only had maybe 2 shots and one of those was on frame. Conversely X dodged a number of bullets throughout the game and had it not been for their keeper, this game could have gotten out...

Top D1 SW Ohio Games for the Week of 8-22

The schedule is heating up quickly in Southwest Ohio. We should have a good idea of the top teams by next week. Here's a look at the top D1 games this week: Tuesday the 22nd Walnut Hills @ St. Xavier Monroe @ Beavercreek Sycamore @ Centerville Milford @ Oak Hills Moeller @ Princeton...

Top D1 games in Southwest Ohio this weekend

So St X beating East 3-0 was expected. Mason losing 3-0 was not. I expected a tough game, but that result stings a bit. I know they are without a MF all year due to knee injury. But they did pick up a FCC MF this year too. Mason could be in for a tough year as their schedule is brutal. West...

    Southwest District Finals

I think the Centerville v. Moeller game is shaping up to be a great one. There’s 20+ CUP kids on these combined rosters … 7 will be on the defending National Championship 06 team. Both teams have played 19 games and they each have 14 shut outs on the season. Moeller’s goal differential is 55 (65...
