    2024 OATCC Polls

I believe I had a teammate @ UC many years ago from Bay in the PV. Can't remember his name, though.

    2024 OATCC Polls

So very true. Minster has been a fine example of that since the beginning of the girls' state meet in 1975

    Early XC results

Well, the rock-hard ground is turning this season's early results into a track meet with 9 girls already under 17:57, and 9 boys under 15:20. This weekend's forecast is for some rain here in SW Ohio, so maybe things will start turning into more normalized performances.

Have considered that, but I'll let the data drive my decision-making.

Mini-Project - Early (1995-2001) Ohio Girls' Pole Vault - Request for Community Input

One of my sideline projects that I'm wanting to put together by next May is a compilation of girls' PV lists for the years 1995-2001. I was at the reported first Ohio HS girls' PV comp at Anderson HS in 1995. I'm looking for community input for results during that time frame that featured the...

    Division Expansions

I'm not arguing for staying with 3 divisions. Should be at least 5 in a state the size of Ohio. I'm doing a mini-project this week to seek out a better distribution based on OHSAA's database. Will get back with you all later this week.

    Division Expansions

A far more equitable system would be not to divide into equal pools of the # of schools, but into equal pools of the # of STUDENTS in a pool. OHSAA has it back assward.

    Division Expansions

Absolutely *$)T#$Y_*F# ridiculous! Batavia & Badin with over a THOUSAND less boys now have to compete against Mason! OHSAA is NOT working in the best interests of student-athletes.

I'm hearing of a lot of pressure to expand.

    Longest Tenured Coach

Ken Sampson - 1934 Class A (big school) Mile Champion for Toledo Scott. One of the earliest sub-4:30 milers in OH HS history. Lee Huffman - 1952 Class A Pole Vault Champion for Springfield Are those the Sampson & Huffman gentlemen that I refer to?

    Tom Rapp retiring

Not surprising. He's 5 years older than I am, and I'm sure he wants to enjoy his family. Father time is the ultimate monkey riding all our backs.

Rooks finish in the steeplechase was a shock to everyone. Even got my elderly father out of his chair to cheer him on! Rooks went from also-ran to PLAYER with his 9-second PB.

I watched all of it. Very happy for Susan Seaton's prodigy in Annette Echikunwoke (I saw her talking to Susan in the stands) for winning the silver medal. I was shocked that Hocker won, not because he couldn't, but because Kerr let him through on the inside instead of continuining to block him...

    2024 Paris Olympic

With Mondo's WR & win yesterday, the chatter about him being the "GOAT" on T&F News forums is amusing, to say the least. While Mondo is on another planet right now ahead of the competition and has 2 Olympic & 2 World Championship golds, plus a WC silver ('19) & 2 European titles, Bubka had 6...

    2024 Paris Olympic

It used to be 0.12 seconds (for us older folks), and one false start. I heard Ato Boldon say the other day that empirical evidence is showing that the now in place no false-start rule is actually causing longer delays than having the old one false-start rule. Interesting.

Yep. If they all remain healthy, I think we're looking at 3 of the 4 that will take the collegiate record sub 41.5
