Best 10-season run?

Makes no sense if you look at the other candidates.

A number f schools have many titles in ten year period, so ya the n look at their non title teams.

Then per your argument, I will stipulate, any teams who have 5 or more playoff State Championships, AT THIS POINT, have a better 10 year run because I didn't produce any other numbers in this Yappi thread. I also move to have Gail Sayers removed from the '60's ALL-Decade Team.

Hoban has been amazing the last 6 years. But frankly they're the Sammy Sosa-esque in terms of Ohio HS Football dynasties (recently incredibly & slightly questionably great):
The last 10 years: 89-31 with 5 state titles in 6 trips to the playoffs.
2015-2020: 79-5 with 5 state titles in 6 trips to the playoffs
2011-2014: 14 - 26

All that said, unless Coach Tyrrell gets the call-up to a college job he looks to have built a machine that is just about self-sustaining now.

You are still obviously obtuse as there are like 6-7 posted with 5 or more titles in ten years, therefore you need to have the other seasons to fill out that ten year period to see just how they stack up against the other big dogs.
 
Still smarting from the beat down we took in the championship but Pick Central has had a pretty good run the past 10 seasons:

107 wins 21 losses
10 winning seasons
10 playoff appearances
9 league championships
Advanced to the 2nd round 8 of the 10 years
6 Regional Championships
4 State Title game appearances
2 State Championships

The most impressive part was not their record. The thing that separates the 2014 Flyers is they were D7 beating the D5 and D6 champs handily. Find one other team in history that has dominated like that in any given division, you’ll be searching for a long time to find any that come close

98 is actually the 11th year. Being Div. 1 I think this is the most impressive. Also 3 USA Today or national prep poll national championships in that period.
 
Pope & Scipio...Yup, Moeller & Princeton in their prime in the same region. But what really sucked for C'ville was running the table and still not being invited to the dance. Now I hear they'll be taking 12 teams per region. We'd have settled for 2....:)
 
Kettering Alter and Coach Domsitz (?) also had a pretty impressive run in the past 15 years or so.

Sorry...I just thought of this but... Pick Central has averaged 13 games a year played over the last 10 years. That’s not bad considering 3 of the seasons only had 9 regular season games and 2020 only had 6 regular season.

Over the past 5 years, the maximum number of games a D1 could have played is 72. Pick Central has played 70.

Only yr not to get in title/playoffs was ‘79 went 9-1 lost last game to Johnstown 12-7, JD suspended 4 starters week of game for violating team rules.

I think if we were to rank these 10 year windows, the Ignatius and Moeller runs would be 1-2. The talent they went against in D I / AAA was much stronger than what the runs lower division teams went against. Newark Catholic is probably a clear #3. From there you'd mix in Kirtland, Coldwater, Marion Local and St. Edward maybe another Ignatius period of 99-08. St. Henry 90-99. Princeton 78-87 or 81-90. Mooney 02-11.

While D1 is not always the best team (most years yes) Ignatius winning 5 straight D1 titles is one of the most impressive accomplishments in state history IMO.

This was back when only 4 teams made the playoffs in each region.

Like most title winners, Ignatius ruined some schools better teams and likely State Champs (Euclid, Massillon come to mind)

OK, I'll give you that. But it's hard to consider ANY program a DVII (or small-time, if that is what you are trying to imply) program when they're consistently fielding 60 to 70 kids on their roster EVERY year. Name one other DVII program that does that, you might be searching just as long. I get your point, but to me, Marion Local is a different animal altogether. I think somebody told me one time that around 90 percent of their boys go out for football. If that is true, I can't think of another public school that does that, either.

ML probably averages 35 boys per class, or 140 in the high school. They're not getting 90 percent of their kids out - it’s more like 50 percent at the most.
