The Dog Days of Summer and Gasoline Prices

Who let the dogs out???

Gas is ~$2.00 here before any discount. Will it stay in this range until Labor Day?

If the world opens up by then, the prices will go up just before Labor Day so that the oil companies can capitalize on the increased travel.

Great! Think I'll take a road trip to NY...
With that answer, you just won a beautiful 2021 Ford Bronco! Why not make it LA?

Fuel economy has not been released yet, but hey! "the ride" is free.

Shipping and handling charges apply. Tunes not included. Spokesperson not real.

Hottest day of the year so far. Only 95, but 100+ heat index.

Bought groceries this afternoon and had to change clothes when I got home. LOL

Saw a station selling gas at 1.85 on the way home, but Kroger (Harris Teeter) discount will beat that.

Saw gas in Iowa in the 1.70's over the weekend. And what's this? Central Ohio high temps only in the 80's for the next seven days??

Iowa has room for a gas station among all those ? fields and ? farms? Actually, it's been over fifty years since I passed through the Hawkeye state. So...maybe it has changed some?

We had a similar forecast, but it has been cut to three days in the 80's. I'll take it if there is only one "cool" day (Saturday)! Thursday's humidity is supposed to be "oppressive". Yikes. ?

We were in Cedar Rapids - quite cosmopolitan, actually. The occasion was a friend's wedding. The night before I went out to a large downtown bar with the groom and best man. Three of us age 60 and up, surrounded by millenials, lol. Those cute chicks doted on us all night. We must have reminded them of their grandpas. And nobody is wearing a mask except me.

The 6-5 bouncer scanning ID's (just like at Kroger) commented on us being from Ohio. I said "Go Bucks!". He wasn't happy about that.

The wedding was at a large banquet facility 30 miles north - yes, surrounded by cornfields and farms. Chairs arranged like pews, everyone sitting close to one another, mingling, etc. Most of us on the groom's side were masked; almost nobody on the bride's side wore any face-covering. We might as well have had "OUT-OF-TOWNER" stamped on our foreheads.

Later we learned Iowa is one of the best places to be re avoiding Covid. All the fertilizer dust in the air keeps out the 'Rona, I guess.

Spent a few days in Iowa a couple years ago. OSU/IOWA football game, Field of Dreams, casino, was more to do than expected

I imagined it had changed since the 60's and just couldn't resist poking a little fun. BTW, eastern NC is much like Iowa - corn and soybeans and hogs!

Except now, it is underwater for a while. Can hogs swim or do they just float? :)

That's insane! Big as Ts&As.

Earthquake this morning. I felt the bed shake and heard a low rumble. Only 5.1 so I went back to sleep.

Hurricane/tropical storm spawning tornadoes, forest fires and, now, a landslide-producing quake. I think I'll move to Cali. :)
