Schools\Districts Shut Down as of August 1st for scrimmages throughout September:
Akron City Schools
Clark County Schools
Cleveland Public Schools
Columbus City Schools
Cuyahoga County (All Schools, any details?)
Gates Mills Hawken School
Gahanna-Lincoln
Groveport Madison Schools
Hilliard Schools
University School
Reynoldsburg
Western Reserve Academy
Westerville Schools
Worthington Schools
Southwestern City Schools (Columbus)
Toledo Public Schools
Trotwood-Madison

Please list the required reason and explain if it is all levels or just junior High?
 
St Clairsville has now shut down workouts.

So three in Belmont county.

Union Local has implemented a 14 day policy for anyone who travels out of state.

This doesn't bode well, as this part of the state has the least amount of "cases".
 
Belmont county just had all those kids come back from Myrtle Beach with it, so it makes sense they're all shut down right now despite having a low number of total cases.

A lot of families on vacation in Southeast US and coming back. If this continues look for a quarantine of those specific individuals.

I’m sorry but if this happening now, it’s going to happen later, we are insane to think they are just going to go on with it this Fall.

Say you had St Clairsville on your schedule this week, or played them two weeks ago, or last week, and what does the team do that played them two weeks ago, and Team C played last week, I mean...the web Of hell creates quickly
 
Each school boards attorney is going to sit down behind closed doors and advise them of the legal risks, the liability they are responsible for, the costs, both in terms of millions of dollars for lawsuits, attorney fees and the community who will hold them accountable for deaths, scarred lungs, the suffering from the virus for those who do survive. Their insurance carriers are already telling them bad news.

There are ways around that like signed wavier"s not holding the school and or district responsible if anything should happen. Like I said you can not go on living in fear ..life must go on. This is no where near as deadly as Influenza ...why are they not shutting down the schools every year during flu season hell why are they not shutting down the world ....because you cant shut life down. THIS TO WILL PASS

I agree it will pass. Problem is I am afraid it hasn't yet. We as a society need to be develop the ability to be more patient, then get back to normal. If one kid in Ohio contracts the virus from playing sports and dies, it is not worth it. These sports are not life and death.

It's extremely unlikely anyone will die from it after catching it at a sporting event. Much more likely a kid will die in a car accident on the way to school. School just isn't worth the risk. Stay home. School isn't life or death.

"School isn't life or death" - Education is much more important than a golf season or football season.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE high school football. I would doubt that many people on this board have attended more games than I have. I am also not a fearful person. I am 100% in support of ramping up to prepare for the season. What I am concerned with is what we do not know and what we do know at this point. What I do know is sitting at a desk learning is much different than two lines of scrimmage 1.5 seconds after the ball is snapped. What I also know is that a bunch of kids in Belmont county went to Myrtle Beach and got the virus. They brought it home and now several programs are shut down. This to me is very concerning.
 
This is only the beginning, soon the framework for school in the fall will be coming out and its a doozy, sports will be difficult to migrate through but if people would just follow rules, we would have a better shot of having them in the fall and winter. The number of spikes was expected and will continue but the spreading at the schools would be very concerning and we are yet to see this . Its the cavalier attitude and selfish attitudes that hurt this situation .

People are mostly following the rules even if many of the rules are arbitrary or do more harm then good. And how do I know this? There has been more then a 70% DROP in covid deaths (weekly average) since the high point at the end of April. We've also flattened the curve so that at present no region of the US is seriously at risk of overloading their ICU and/or hospital capacity - in spite of what the media says.

I struggle to trust what these people are telling me particularly Governor DeWine. Last week DeWine made a big show of claiming an adjacent country to where I live, Warren county, was a new covid19 "hot spot" that needed to be watched.

This was news to the health department of Warren County (home to Kings Island and is a major tourist economy in SWO) which reported the following FACTS: From June 9 to June 23 a total of FIVE people were hospitalized for covid. FIVE. And there were no deaths. This is in a county of 240,000 people. That's a hot spot?

The sad fact is that from the beginning the powers that be have lied to us - "you don't need masks; wait you must wear masks" or "gathering for a graduation party is bad but gathering to protest no big problem".

I get that most school districts will cancel extracurricular activities this fall. But let's not pretend it's about protecting the kids or the communities. It's about covering their butts and taking the path of lest resistance.

In Ohio, NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON under age 34 (yes, you read that correctly) has died of coronavirus, but 11 have died of pneumonia, and 1,861 have died of all causes.

Last fours years, only won one game. That could be the norm for colleges that aren't good at football.

Considering the number of deaths for HS aged kids is practically zero how they caught the virus is irrelevant. Catching it in Myrtle or catching it on football field doesn't make it anymore deadly to this age group.

You say this every time someone talks about anything regarding liability. I can tell you with 100% certainty these discussions are happening at my local school. I don't know what others are doing but I'd assume it's somewhat the same.

I do laugh when people mention waivers. They're overruled in courtrooms across the country on a daily basis.
 
There are kids who brought it back from Myrtle. I Don't think any of the schools in Stark County stopped workouts.
