Is St. Charles not in this district?
St. Charles will finish 4th at best. Liberty & Coffman may beat them as well moving them to 6th. Bears win easily. The only hope for the rest of the district is that they don't even begin to rest for district meet as the top of their team will be tapering for the state meet and the Central District meet is early this year.

Dang, with that two extra days of prep and the studs they have, I’m revising my predictions. UA will dominate at state this year. I have come to see the light!

As predicted St Charles is out of top 3 Bears will roll. Only thing that will keep this close is that UA won't taper for district. SC will be lucky to hold its position in 5th.

Nice work!!

Northwest and Central look to be competitive meets for team finish especially the Central. Central times are quite fast—almost as fast as Southwest. Rjones, although I expect UA to win the team title, it will not be unrested. There will be significant time drops. Other than maybe Voss, I can’t imagine anyone not being fully tapered. And don’t count SC out just yet. They traditionally drop more time than anyone. The relays for sectional were unstacked meaning they will move up a lot. Expect all their relays to finish in the top 3. It will be a dogfight but I would not be surprised to see them runner up. I wonder if the short week will throw off anyone’s taper?

My guess is you will see UA improve points slightly (they also have 2 decent divers), SC improve massively to 2nd, Jerome, Liberty fall a bit as they were all suited while some of UA and SC were not. Seems like UA/Beavercreek/Mason for second? Maybe Iggy/Francis/Hoover?

just a heads up, those diving score are a mix of 6 dive and 11 dive if you want or need to adjust...central boys start tomorrow, i think sw is early as well correct?

Depends who has the higher relay finishes. On the relays Chaney swims, Mason will be tough for any of these schools to beat.

This includes the diving numbers that are posted, so no diving from the Northwest.

Thanks swimfan for the numbers. However, aside from X the state numbers are meaningless at this point. At the district level they may be more predictive. Although be wary of SC and StF. Both have a history of dropping time and moving up. SC has a great deal of room to improve both in relays and in individual events. It's doubtful they can top UA but expect them to be in the top 2. StF will likely close on Iggy. No one will catch North Canton. Expect Mason to finish second in the SW.

The relays at district will give a better idea of final times. Mason and Sycamore could finish pretty high in the states. No one will come very close to X. I may go over to the district meet and cheer on some old friends.

Not sure how this changes projections, top 6 are state qualifiers, but two are scratching so top 8 qualify (Matthews and Rzepa scratching)

Why are they scratching

The Bears dominate Central District setting 5 meet records without being fully tapered. They topped their psych score by over 50 points. Next week fully rested they will push X!

they swam well FULLY TAPERED and suited and shaved. Very difficult to drop time again a week plus later

Not pushing x. Not close unless flu hits

I believe the date of the Central District meet was dictated by the availability of OSU. It will be interesting to see if the extra days aid swimmers in holding their taper. Congratulations to UA on a great performance yesterday. While they will certainly finish top 5...possibly second, I don't think they will push X. They looked fully rested yesterday. It was a bit surprising that Jerome did not score higher. St. Charles had a strong meet even with their top breaststroker apparently under the weather. I assume that the 200/500 swimmer they scratched was even sicker. They improved by 95 points with everyone but their breaststroker dropping time. Lots of meet records yesterday. Surprisingly UA girls finished a distant third to New Albany. Gahanna girls had a strong meet to finish fourth and they have no seniors.

Yes, Central district was moved because of the Ohio state invite. Last year the invite was only on Saturday and Sunday, this year it is a 3 day meet, hence both d1 and d2 being pushed out 2 days rather than the 1 day last year.

In prior years (2015, 2018) the district went to OU when Ohio State hosted Big Tens (4 day meet). It is interesting on why OU wasn’t entertained for this season. The district was at OU in 2006 -2008, but I believe that had to do with the construction of the new Ohio state pool and maybe some other factors?. in 2009, 2 divisions for boys came about. 06-08 was single gender meets (3 separate sessions) at OU, maybe a 4th session wasn’t possible.

Jeff does a nice job a Gahanna
