The Lady Pups get a 68-65 win over #13 Dublin Coffman in a home game tonight. Quite the frenetic pace for the game and lots of talent on the floor....two OSU recruits and probably 3-4 additional D1 recruits. The OSU coach was in the house.

The 2018 Ms. Basketball (Bell) and runner up (Sheldon) were on the floor....both had good games.

Jazzy Kramer sat most of the first half with foul trouble, but her double-double was crucial for McKinley. She may have moved up to #10 on the list of all-time rebounds. The freshman for Coffman also had a great game. Bell also had a double-double to go along with 4 blocks and 6 of 9 shooting from the foul line.

It was a good win and experience for McKinley, but if they don't get better at the foul line (55% average), they will have a real hard time advancing through the latter rounds of the tournament.

Lady Pups chewed on some Tigers, save your strength girls you got some Biggies comin up soon.

Go Lady Pups! Don't worry about anything but trying your best, and then you can be yourselves (and that can be enough no matter who you play). Bulldog Nation is behind you all the way. Always keep the faith in every situation and good things usually happen!

Go Canton McKinley Lady Pups!

How did Bell do?

23 points, 13 rebounds. Terrell with 14, Foster with 9.

Up next for the Bulldogs is a rematch of last year as Wadsworth beat Hoban 36-33 tonight.

Isn't it amazing how much, and how quickly, information is available these days to those who only listen to games on a radio and read articles?!!

Way to go Lady Pups! Now for some revenge on Wadsworth! Stay true to yourselves and do your best and always, always keep the faith! Bulldog Nation stands with you!

Congratulations to the Lady Pups in beating state-ranked Wadsworth 54-32 in the District Championship game in Medina!

Wadsworth isn't state ranked. Nonetheless, it was a solid win by the Lady Pups.

Still to be improved....foul shooting.

As seems to be typical, their Regional semi-final opponent is unclear. The OHSAA Norwalk Regional bracket page shows the Medina winner playing the Toledo winner (Notre Dame Academy/Sylvania Southview), but the District brackets show the Medina winner playing the Elyria winner (Avon Lake). The latter makes more sense.

Congratulations to the Lady Pups! Coach JFL JohnFromLorain is smiling above and is very proud of you Lady's. Congratulations to Coach Pam and Willie for your hard work and dedication to the game. It is great to see a quality offensive team like yours dismantle the patented BH+W (Bump, Hack and Whack) defense. Good Luck in your upcoming games!

It's Avon Lake

Thanks for the correction, JAF. I read the wrong Wadsworth-McKinley article about the game online. It said Wadsworth was rated 9th. Must of been left up from the previous year or so. :dang:

I know in a given year there's 4 maybe 5 schools that can win the state championship but it sure feels like if McKinley doesn't win it all these last 4 years with Bell will be wasted and it will be a long time before another opportunity will come around.

Congratulations to McKinley. I don't know why the state is sending them all the way to Norwalk, when there is a Regional 5 minutes away. Also did the school get a bus and tickets for students to go to the game? If so more schools need to take a page out of that book. Good Luck All

The Medina District winner plays in Norwalk, and normally isn't from Canton. McKinley plays in Medina because they aren't allowed to play on their own floor where the Canton District is held.

The Repository inaccurately reported that it was free. The students paid $10 for a ticket and bus ride to the game. I don't know who arranged it...perhaps booster club.

While not free, it was a reasonable price for the students. I hope they get the opportunity again.

Both McKinley and Medina High School were put in another District because their school was hosting a District. Both won the District they were moved to.
